阳岳寺摩崖石刻造像位于苍溪县三川镇阳岳一组望天观下山崖上,崖面东北西南向,崖前地面较宽阔,前面有一棵巨大的古榕树,耕地中尚可见宋明时期石造像,说明此地原当有地面寺庙。造像刻于山崖西北面,2001年10~11月成都市文物考古研究所与广元市皇泽寺博物馆联合对该地摩崖造像进行了考古调查,龛像从右至左编为1~7号,七个龛像中均存有清代装彩残迹,现将调查情况作一简报(图一;图版三三,1)。
