The Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences announced in its announcement of 18 October 1982 that the then Nobel Prize for Chemistry was presented to Dr. A. Klug of the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the British Medical Research Council in recognition of his work on the development of crystalline electronic display Crystallographic Electron Microscopy and the Nucleic Acid-Protein Complex. This is the first time scientists who are mainly engaged in electron microscopy have won this internationally prestigious prize of natural science and the 50th anniversary of the advent of electron microscopy. Of the research workers are greatly encouraged.
