  Silica-based materials,especially the nanostructured silica materials,including monodispersed silica nanoparticles,silica-coated functional nanoparticles and mesoporous silica nanoparticles,are of great importance based on their easy and low-cost preparation,tunable particle sizes,chemical stability,facile surface functionalization and broad potential applications in biomedicine.[1] Furthermore,the negligible cytotoxicity has rendered them widely used auxiliary components,e.g.food additives and vitamin supplements,which have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA).Although significant progresses on various silica-based nanothernostic systems have been made,there are still a number of key challenges including unsatisfactory guest molecules/nanoparticles loading amounts,long-term stability in biological environment and potential bio-toxicity remaining to be solved,which have greatly hampered its clinical transformation.
