This study examined the changes in interferon gamma (IFN), cytotoxicity factor (MCCF), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) activity in 52 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC), and another 32 patients with hepatic cirrhosis (LC). )as comparison. The results showed that the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) produced by these patients had decreased IFN activity, which was more pronounced in patients with PHC. The activity of MCCF and TNF in PHC was higher than normal. It suggests that the host IFN activity is low, weakening the body’s antiviral and anti-tumor immune activity, which can lead to the occurrence and development of PHC. If we can reasonably use cytokines such as IFN and TNF to treat PHC, we may obtain better results in the treatment of PHC.
