Male Narrator: The watch is an amazing invention, and if you take the time to think about it, not only can it tell the present time for you, it can also help you to tell the future, especially during1)countdowns for New Years, and also behind, how much you were late if you missed a date.
It’s a good time now to take a look at some of the classic watches that we have.
Female Narrator: Basil World Watch and Jewelry Show is organized annually in the city of Basil, Switzerland. The international trade show for the watch and jewelry industry includes around 2,000 exhibitors from all around the world, each company displaying their latest products to the industry’s experts, 2)mass media representatives, watch 3)connoisseurs, collectors, and everyone that is interested in watches and jewelry.
It was a night of 4)razzles and dazzles as world-class celebrities were invited to attend the evening party. The night became an 5)extravaganza of 6)luxurious watches.
Interviewer: What do you look for in a watch?
Maggie Cheung: Well, design is important, but comfort. I like things that don’t stick into me, or will not be sharp, or will not hook my clothes. Even if it had 10,000 diamonds, that doesn’t matter. That’s one thing I really like; it’s kind of7)masculine, or larger sizes watches.
Interviewer: That seems to be the trend also, for all ladies who wear men’s watch, or big watches…
Maggie: True, yeah. Maybe they work more for women, finally.
Interviewer: Put more diamonds, right?
Maggie: It has more space to put diamonds. It’s true.
Interviewer: Do you like, you know, a lot of diamonds?
Maggie: I can... I can get quite mad.
Interviewer: Really?
Maggie: I mean, it’s not something I would carry every day with me, because I don’t like the burden of knowing I’ve got that much stuff on me. I like to be able to be free with my things, too, like just to put it down and it won’t be stolen in two seconds. So...but diamond watches, yes, they’re beautiful. I mean, to admire them. To wear them when you’re dressed. You know, it just8)enhances the whole outfit and makes you feel I’m really going out.
Interviewer: Very special.
Maggie: I’m the princess. Yes. It’s not actually the design; it’s more the feeling of the watch [that] is more important for me. Does it match my feeling of the day? If I’m in a really carefree look, I would want to feel carefree with my jewelries, too, and not suddenly have a 9)rude burden. Or I can be really 10)dressed down and sometimes I put a huge diamond watch, just for the fun of it, what everybody would think is fake. And I kind of like enjoy that, too. Is it fake or is it real?
Interviewer: Really? I don’t think anybody would suspect Maggie wearing a fake watch.
Maggie: That’s the 11)suspense.
