Believed by the Greeks that the harbour is the birth place of Aphrodite, her loveliness was created from the sea 5)spray against the rocks. A temple honouring her was built just behind it.
Today, all that remains of the temple is the pillars. However, it 6)prompted the town’s popularity and wealth, and lead to the 7)mosaic remains from Roman 8)villas that have been uncovered here.
Forgotten City
Once the capital city, Salamis offers up 9)artifacts and 10)architecture from the Romans, Persians, Egyptians
