Initially, people believed that globalization was an expansion of the capitalist experience. However, with the continuous development and changes of capitalism, the emergence of different types of organizations and institutions confirms the different roles played by globalization and the real purposes that exist in this expansion. This article starts from the historical perspective of the relevant agreements after the Second World War and discusses how the establishment of the international monetary and financial order and the Bretton Woods system deal with the current economic turmoil and then explore the economic reasons behind the current trend of sustainable development. This paper finds that sustainable development is a tool to achieve the neoliberal expansion policy.
