地方高校引领地方文化发展已经成为地方高校新的职能之一。其中英语专业学生地方文化认知能力的培养,对于培养地方涉外交流人才具有重要的意义。通过专门的英语地方文化课程设置,编写配套的教材,并辅以相应的课外实践,不仅有助于学生提高地方文化认知能力,也能够增进外地学生对于“第二故乡”的情感,从而起到在涉外领域传播地方文化、服务地方经济的积极作用。
