Chuck: ①Hiya Zoe, you’re here early today.
Zoe: Early? I’ve been up since the crack of 1) dawn! I already went for a morning run.
Chuck: Wow. I set my alarm so that I’ve exactly enough time to get dressed, brush my teeth and then make it to work with only a minute or so to spare.
  Zoe: You don’t eat breakfast?
Chuck: I’m usually OK until lunchtime.
Zoe: ②That’s not cool, Chuck. It’s true what they say about breakfast being the most important meal of the day.
  Chuck: ③Whatever.
Zoe: Do you exercise at all?
Chuck: Well, I’ve gotta walk from my house to the subway station and then to work from there every day. We went 2)bowling a couple of weeks ago.
Zoe: I don’t think that counts as actual exercise.
Chuck: ④It’s not like I’m fat or anything.
Zoe: Being fat isn’t the only indication that you’re unhealthy, Chuck.
Chuck: I know, but it’s the most 3)obvious one.
Zoe: That’s not funny Chuck, and it’s untrue. Being too thin is just as unhealthy as being too fat. I’m not saying you need to ⑤treat your body like a temple, but exercise and eating right are two very important lifestyle choices that are pretty easy to accomplish.
Chuck: Next you’re going to 4)bitch at me about quitting smoking.
  Zoe: You smoke too?
  Chuck: Like a chimney.
Zoe: You’re ⑥on the fast track to an 5)ICU, you know? Most of the civilized world has banned smoking in public places because it’s a proven carcinogen, to both you and me. I don’t want your second-hand smoke.
Chuck: So don’t stand next to me.
Zoe: It breaks my heart to see you hurting yourself, and others, with your ⑦cavalier attitude towards health. You’re choosing to be unhealthy. Think of all those who grow up sick and diseased through no fault of their own. Do you know what they’d give to have the chance to be healthy?
Chuck: Ah, ⑧blow it out your ear!

  Zoe:
  Zoe:
  Chuck:
  Chuck:
  Zoe:
  Zoe:
  Chuck:
  Chuck:
  Chuck:
  Zoe:
  Chuck:
  Chuck:
  Chuck:

  Smart Sentences

  ①Hiya嗨
这是hi, you的非常随意的口语表达,多用于关系非常密切的人之间(an expression said when people who know each other well meet),而且只用在非正式场合。 Hiya, Pete, how’re you doing?

  ②That’s not cool那可不好
-On weekends, I usually get up at noon.
  -That’s not cool.

—think you need to smoke less and eventually quit.
  —hatever.

④It’s not like I’m fat or anything我又不胖或者有什么毛病
It’s not like…… What do you mean? It’s not like I broke the vase。
It’s not a good grade, but it’s not like I failed.

⑤to treat your body like a temple要用毕恭毕敬的态度对待自己的身体

⑥on the fast track to an ICU身处去重症监护室的快车道上
  词组fast track是指实现某个目标的快速成功路(the quickest route to achieving a goal),但注意,这与捷径(short cut)不同,它指的是正常的渠道,只不过是速度超快而已。例:
With that successful project completed, he is on the fast track to promotion.

可能是因为骑士(cavalier)曾经高高在上,不可一世的缘故吧,这个字面意思为移锸刻扔的词组指的是对人傲慢,或对事情漫不经心的态度(do not consider other people’s feelings or take account of the seriousness of a situation)。
John takes a cavalier attitude towards the concept of proofreading.

  ⑧blow it out your ear都是废话
—I really think what you did was inconsiderate and unreasonable.
—Oh, blow it out your ear. Mind your own business.

  Talk about it
① What are your eating habits?
② Do you exercise at all? How?
③ Do you have any unhealthy habits? What are they? What can you do to stop?
④ How serious are you about living a healthy lifestyle?
