本文对翻译《茶馆》粤语译本的几种可能性进行了探讨。《茶馆》这部由老舍创作的经典戏剧作品表现了北京特有的文化,而北京文化同广东文化之间的巨大差异很可能会为剧本翻译及上演增加难度。本文采用系统功能语言学视角,对将剧本译成粤语时可采取的四种策略进行了总结。同时,我们将源语文化和目标语文化视为连续体的两端,将四种翻译策略置于连续体之上,并使用众多广为人知的翻译理论对其进行了评析。在翻译过程中,译者可以在考虑演出效果的前提下,从意义潜势中做出选择。而在进行研究时,从词汇语法层面对源文本与相应的目标文本进行详尽的分析则可以为我们带来更多的启示。
This article explores several possibilities for translating the Cantonese translation of Teahouse. Teahouse, a classic drama by Lao She, shows Beijing’s peculiar culture, while the huge differences between Beijing’s culture and Cantonese culture are likely to make it more difficult for script translation and staging. This article uses the perspective of systematic functional linguistics to summarize the four strategies that can be taken when translating a script into Cantonese. At the same time, we regard the source language culture and the target language culture as the two ends of the continuum, place the four translation strategies on the continuum, and evaluate them using many well-known translation theories. In the process of translating, the translator can make a choice from the meaning potential under the premise of considering the performance effect. When carrying out the research, it is more enlightenment for us to make a detailed analysis of the source text and the corresponding target text from the lexical grammar level.
