Aim: Yu Ping Fang San (YPFS) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine formula, containing Radix Saposhnikoviae (RS), Radix Astragali (RA) and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (RAM).Cycloastragenol and cimifugin are the key metabolites, which show good pharmacokinetic properties in vivo and simultaneously possess strong biological activities relevant to the effects of YPFS.The aim of this study is to compare the pharmacokinetics of cycloastragenol and cimifugin in rat plasma after oral administration of YPFS with differentcombinations of its constituent herbs.
