Steel coatings on heat-treatable wrought aluminum alloys were developed. Metallographic and level-by-level phase analysis, and also impact – abrasive wear tests by unique technique were used at study of properties of “coating-substratum” system. With reference to these alloys a high adhesion between aluminum surface and steel coating is achieved. It exceeds analogues 2-3 times as large at the expense of “NiCr-special” technology of interlayer spraying. The coating was done by an activated arc spraying, which combines productivity and quality. The mechanical durability of the layer by thickness up to 4 mm and its wear resistance in conditions of high contact loadings and impact – abrasive process is supplied. Aluminum parts with steel coating of tracked vehicle and of railway freight truck also were successfully full scale tested. Technology is well suited to conditions of typical welding manufacture。
