据清代《永顺县志》记载,土司彭福石宠于南宋绍兴五年(1135年)袭职后,迁其治于灵溪之福石山,即今老司城。老司城出于军事上的目的而建,借自然环境构成了坚固的防御,环绕着城址,又有一系列险峻的军事关隘和防御设施。城址包括生活区、衙署区、街道区、墓葬区、宗教区、苑墅区等几个部分。根据目前的考古资料,老司城生活区城墙修建于明代早期,衙署区及老司城周边的大量相关建筑也大多修建于明代。从已发掘的紫金山墓葬和周边墓葬看,年代最早的是明代土司彭显英夫人墓。老司城周边石刻题铭的年代则主要集中在明代弘治、正德、嘉靖年间。
According to records of “Yongshun County” in the Qing Dynasty, Chieftain Peng Fushu pet moved to Shifang Mountain of Lingxi after moving to Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty for five years (1135). Built for military purposes, Lao Shing Shing built a fortified defense of the natural environment surrounding the town site, with a series of steep military passports and defensive facilities. The site includes the living area, Yadu District, the street area, the tomb area, the religious area, Villa District, and several other parts. According to the current archaeological data, the walls of Lao Shicheng’s living area were built in the early Ming Dynasty. Most of the buildings around the Yadu and Lao Shicheng buildings were also mostly built in the Ming Dynasty. From the excavations of the Purple Mountain Tombs and the surrounding tombs, the earliest is the Tombs of the Ming Dynasty Tusi Peng Xian. The old inscriptions around the stone age are mainly concentrated in the Ming Dynasty Hongzhi, Masanori, Jiajing years.
