刘备东吴招亲,已是人们熟知的故事了。这场政治婚姻,注定了女主人公孙尚香难以避免的悲剧命运。北京河北梆子剧团演出的《孙尚香》(高文澜编剧),就是以这个人物为中心展开的一幕历吏悲剧。它从孙权为夺取荆州、诓回孙尚香开始,结束于夷陵战后、孙尚香投江自尽。这是一个传统的题材,却体现了崭新的艺术构思,灌注了当代作家对于这个历史事件和人物的认识与思考。在《三国演义》以及有关的传统戏曲中,原有‘截江夺阿斗’、‘别宫祭长江’等情节。前者着重表现赵云的忠勇,孙尚香的性格则显得有些模糊。赵云与孙尚香的冲突,是从她被诓回去探母,却随身带走阿斗刘禅——虽然不是她的亲生之子而引起的。后者则是她在东吴听到刘备逝世的噩耗以后,江岸设祭,以死殉夫,在京剧等剧种的舞台
