Levinsky, a Swiss literary figure, as a Jewish descendant, several of his novels mainly record the sufferings of Jews in the anti-Semitic history of Europe in modern times. Selected four years from his masterpiece, Melniks, tell a story about the life of Jews Mayer for a period of seventy-five years and the suffering and unfair treatment they suffered. Among Jews, the confrontation with the majority of the community in society or the maintenance of one’s own peculiar personality has always been a matter of debate, and this argument runs through Levinsky’s novel. Eventually, the Mayer family’s history also evolved into the history of the European Jewish nation, but also the history of European anti-Semitism. Levinsky reappears that history with calm brush strokes based on a description of a family history.
