Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common clinical arrhythmias. Despite great progress in AF management and prevention in recent years, AF still has a high incidence of repeated illness, resulting in repeated hospitalizations of patients, affecting their quality of life and even death, resulting in a significant social and economic burden. So far, the mechanism of AF has not been fully elucidated. There are many complicated mechanisms involved in the occurrence and persistence of AF. At present, there is a lot of evidence that inflammation is closely related to AF. Inflammation may participate in the occurrence and persistence of AF by affecting the cardiac electrical and structural remodeling. This article reviews the evidence of the association between inflammation and AF and the progress of anti-inflammatory drug therapy in AF.
