The correct assessment of postoperative body fluid balance need to determine the patient’s weight, access to water and pulmonary artery and central venous pressure, cumbersome and time-consuming operation. The authors describe a rapid bedside assay for systemic bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). The principle of the measurement is that the current (800μA, 50 kHz) generated by the impedance plethysmograph can be read out of the human body fluid through the surface electrode placed on the patient’s hand and foot. Since bioelectrical transduction is related to the body’s moisture and its ions, changes in body fluid and electrolyte composition can affect systemic impedance. Bioelectrical resistance measurement can reflect the size of the alternating current flowing through the body, while the bioelectrical impedance (sense resistance) represents the energy stored in the membrane of the cell membrane. The equipment used was Detroit, an impedance plethysmography apparatus of Type 103 RJL system, and Da-llas, Model M 6001 electrodes. The electrode position of the resistance was measured with the right arm
