It was very exciting to read two articles, “Mr. Chen Heqin and Drum Tower Kindergarten” and “Kindergarten should implement thematic comprehensive teaching”, published in your tenth issue, In the past, I have been very concerned about the articles published by various newspapers and magazines about Mr. Chen Heqin. However, I always feel unsatisfied. These articles seldom talk about the “unit teaching method” of Mr. Chen Heqin; in some articles that refer to “comprehensive education”, although they also refer to the “unit teaching method,” they only have negative conclusions about it, Objective analysis of the facts. The reason for this may be as follows: In the early days of the liberation, when studying the experience of early childhood education in the Soviet Union, Chen’s “unit teaching method” was equated with some of Dewey’s ideas without analysis. This put Mr. Chen’s “unit Teaching Method ”simply denied. Decades have passed, and under the influence of ultra-leftist thinking, we still do not have a correct view of this issue. Recently, I read some kindergarten teaching materials in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the United States. They have not yet forgotten Mr. Chan’s invention and creation. They have introduced in detail in their books and actively promoted them. Fortunately, preschool teacher Zhong Zhaohua introduced the “unit teaching method” of Mr. Chen Heqin originally, and finally made this method to meet with the majority of preschool education workers. The disadvantages of kindergarten teaching are obvious, which artificially cut apart the objective things that exist in children.
