一 林业生产的对象是森林,因此在组织林业生产时,就必须考虑到由于森林的自然特性而产生的林业特点。林业特点之一,为生产周期比较长,从更新到采伐,往往长达数十年,甚至百余年。因此,往往出现采伐和更新,当前利用与长远经营等之间的各种矛盾。为保证长远的木材生产,不让采伐中断,稳定木材供应,解决当前利用和长远经营之间的矛盾,很早以前,林学家们就提出了“永续作业”的森林利用原则。长期以来成为森林经理学探讨的中心和林业生产的指导原则。
