一在今人看来,清末民国大师不少,这只能说明今人浅薄。不管什么时代,大师都不会太多。真大师是很少的,多数是冒滥。但钱穆可谓真大师。这个不在他的学问,而在他真有所见。这个见也叫孤明,所谓孤明先发。钱穆自谓其学得之宋儒,恐是其晚年语。正是这得自宋儒的东西让他与清末诸大佬及同时代史家有所不同。宋明儒的学问分两途,其一为穷理尽性以俟命,这是程朱理学的路子。钱穆得自宋学的主要是这个路数。另外一派讲究尽心知性以知天,此乃大程一脉。此脉由陆王发扬光大。
