The Early Cambrian Kuanchuanpu biota in southern Shaanxi preserved a large number of well-structured phosphated embryos and small shell fossils in three-dimensional, which provided valuable empirical data for the study of metazoan evolution and fossil embryology. The current research mainly focuses on fossil taxonomy and evolutionary biology, but few studies on sedimentary environment and burial mechanism are involved. Through a comprehensive study of a large number of photos of the rock in the wild, thin slices of rock and SEM images of small shell fossils, it is concluded that the Kuanchuanpu biota is not a result of in-situ burial but rather an event deposition. This study is of great significance for exploring the burial environment and preservation mechanism of fossils of Kuanchuanpu biota.
