The use of cold-type turfgrass, Lolium perenne L., is limited by summer heat and co-ordination. While screening for heat-tolerant varieties may yield several varieties, establishing techniques for screening heat-tolerant cultivars at specific temperatures is of great importance in identifying potential varieties for use in the tropics. The aim of this experiment was to screen out heat-tolerant ryegrass varieties at a fixed temperature and to study a technique that can be used to accurately separate all varieties for this purpose. Cultivation of 58 perennial ryegrass cultivars in the incubator, 1 ℃ daily increase in order to enhance heat coercion. The survival rates at 36, 38, 42, 44, 46 and 48 ° C were determined respectively. Some varieties burn at 36 ° C. Most varieties tolerate high temperatures of 38 ° C without significant burns. Most varieties have a survival rate of> 50% at 42 ° C, indicating that some varieties can tolerate this high temperature. However, only a few species at 44 ° C survived more than 50%. Therefore, 44 ℃ may be the heat tolerance of perennial black flat grass cultivars. At 46 ° C, only the survival rates of JPR092, JPR123 and JPR010 were 50% or higher. At 48 ° C, even the best varieties suffer a high degree of damage. Therefore, ryegrass can not grow in this hot area. The largest and smallest heat resistant varieties are JPR005 and JPR178, respectively. Different temperature black perennial cultivars have different heat tolerance, indicating that the experimental techniques can be used to accurately identify and select the appropriate perennial rye heat-tolerant varieties.
