First of all, I would like to pay tribute to the important role that the private sector in South Korea has played in this country’s impressive economic growth over the past few decades. I don’t have to talk about the benefits that traders in South Korea can bring to a country. In 1996, South Korea was the world’s 12th largest exporter, accounting for 2.5% of total world merchandise exports. It was the main beneficiary of the multilateral trading system. One, and this system has been accompanied by South Korea’s economic success. It is no exaggeration to say that this system is at a turning point. This positive turning point is based on its recent continuing achievements, namely the successful holding of the Singapore Ministerial Conference, the signing of the agreement on open basic telecommunications services and the related The signing of information technology product agreements. The multilateral trading system has never been as relevant and effective as it is today, but it is even more crucial to the development and stability of the world.
