By pulsed laser evaporation and ionization of simple substance carbon samples on homemade instruments, it is possible to generate clusters of carbon atoms of various sizes. The time-of-flight mass spectra of these clusters can be directly related to the Hückel’s rule, the Euler’s theorem, and the like. From this analysis it is concluded that as the clusters of carbon atoms increase, they undergo the transformation of the various basic geometric configurations.
