Coca-Cola company Woodruff has a famous saying: “99.1% of Coca-Cola is water, carbonated sugar and syrup, if not for advertising, who drink it?” The former boss of the Coca-Cola company is quite forthright. In 1886 Coca-Cola had a turnover of only $ 50 and spent $ 46 on advertising costs; its turnover was $ 120,000 in 1901; it spent $ 100,000 on advertising; and today's advertising costs average more than $ 600 million annually.
