In 1895, the Qing government signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki, and Taiwan was forced to cede to Japan. The same year, the birth of world cinema in Paris. This historical coincidence may vaguely indicate the fate of Taiwan’s films in the future. Taiwan’s local film production started in 1925 and until the mid-1950s. Due to the repression and war in Japan, the climate of Taiwan’s native film industry was still under development for more than 30 years. Under the long atmosphere of tragedy, Taiwan’s Movies are mostly political attachments, it is difficult to play its basic attributes and functions as a commodity, let alone breeding ground for comedy movies.
