: They’re very big on not giving up, you know, I was never allowed to quit anything, I was, you know, and I think that that has gotten me pretty far.
: Slow and steady wins the race.
: Always have a “plan B.”
: I’m Gabrielle, and the best advice my parents ever told me was to never change yourself, always1)shoot for what you want to do.
: It wasn’t any spoken type of thing; it was just the way they lived their lives.
: Stay on 2)the straight and narrow.
: My father was once a victim of a violent assault. He was stabbed 11…11 times and nearly killed. I was enraged. And he said, “Don’t let this hurt you more than it hurt me,” meaning don’t give up that sense that there’s that of God in everyone and to be present to that of God in everyone, which is the core value in 3)Quakerism.
: I’d say the best advice that my parents ever gave me was something that my father told me, which was: “Don’t do anything that you know is stupid.”
: My dad once told me that two of the greatest influences in my life would be the books I read and the friends I kept, which I now discover is true.
: Respect your elders; that’s one good thing, (laughing) that’s for sure.
: The best advice my parents ever gave me was: “Have fun living every day.” I trust, and that’s what I do all the time, because every day I think you have a [an] opportunity of correcting your mistakes and moving on. I think it’s a journey. It’s a journey that never ends. And even when you die, there might be still adventures out there.
