Objective To investigate the proportion of CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells in peripheral blood of patients with syphilis and its clinical significance. Methods The proportion of CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells in CD4 + T cells in peripheral blood of 42 patients with syphilis was detected by flow cytometry. The results were compared with those of 30 normal subjects. Results The proportion of CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells in peripheral blood of syphilis patients was significantly higher than that of normal controls [(8.94 ± 6.72)% vs (5.36 ± 4.51)%, P <0.01) However, there was no correlation between RPR titers and fast plasma reaction (RPR) titer (P> 0.05). Conclusion The proportion of CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells in peripheral blood of syphilis patients is high, and they have immunosuppressive function in patients with syphilis.
