The serum levels of oxidized low density lipoprotein (OMLDL) in 71 patients with cerebrovascular disease (CVD) were measured by ELISA. The levels of OMLDL, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein (HDLC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC), apolipoprotein A (apoAⅠ), apoB100 concentration and abnormal rate, and analyzed the relationship between OMLDL concentration and other indicators. Results: The blood OMLDL concentration in patients with CVD was significantly higher than that in the control group. The LDLC concentration was significantly increased, while the apoA Ⅰ concentration was decreased. There was no significant change in the concentrations of TG, TC, HDLC and apoB100. Except for LDLC, the abnormality rates of other indexes were significantly lower than those of OMLDL. OMLDL levels were negatively correlated with apoAI (rS = 0.284, P <0.05), but not with TG, TC, HDLC, LDLC and apoB100. The authors believe that OMLDL is the best indicator of CVD risk factors in lipid metabolism indicators.
