“生命诚可贵,爱情价更高;若为自由故,二者皆可抛”;“宁愿在风暴中享自由,不愿在安宁中受奴役”;“不自由,毋宁死”……西方历史上有关“自由”的这些诗句和话语,显示出“自由”在西方价值体系中极为重要的地位。不过,在赞扬自由的华美语词之外,在富丽堂皇的自由表象背后,也存在另外一些话语。例如,卢梭在《社会契约论》的开篇写道:“人是生而自由的,但却无往不在枷锁之中”;在根据大仲马同名小说改编的电影《黑郁金香》(1964)中,自由被剧中人不屑一顾地称为国王抛给百姓的一块没有肉的骨头;法国大革命时期,罗兰

However, in addition to complimenting the free Chinese and American words, there are some other words behind the magnificent liberties.
