Vera Cather (1873-1947) was a leading American writer in the twentieth century and many literary critics compared her with the greatest modern American novelists, Faulkner, Hemingway and Fitzgerald. “A Lost Woman,” published in 1923, is the aphrodisiac in Caesar’s art career. The novel is not long, is a typical “no furniture ” novel. American writer and critic Crutch thinks it is “almost perfect” in art. In his analysis of Cather’s method of creation, American critic D · Stoker argues that her third-person narrator has two perspectives: "Neil’s perspective is included in the perspective of an omniscient narrator. This article attempts to explore the author’s successful use of modern narrative techniques and the unique artistic effects it produces from a narrative perspective.
