African American writer Ralph Ellison’s theory of novel creation and his novel “Invisible Man” open up new fields for Afro-American literature. His thinking and exploration predicted the tendency and evolution of Afro-American literature in the second half of the 20th century. Allison’s influence is reflected in the innovation and expansion of theme selection, text structure and creative aesthetics. This influence runs through two phases of the development of black literature: the periods of modernism and post-modernism of 1962-1983 and the period of new black aesthetics of 1983-2001.
