Auguste Wilson (1945-2005) is the most prominent black playwright in contemporary American theater. He created the century series truly recorded 20th century American black history of centuries, called the black century American epic. This article will take a traumatic view of Wilson’s famed masterpiece “Aunt Lenny’s Black Buttocks Dance” to reveal the collective trauma and individual trauma suffered by African Americans in the face of the painful history and the reality of racial discrimination. Wilson from the tragedy of the individual’s fate, to explain the African Americans through the identification of black identity and the connection with the black national culture, can get out of the trauma, to be redeemed.
