地理教学需要培养的学生能力一般是指记忆、表达、观察、思维(包括分析、综合、抽象、概括)、阅读地图(包括地图、图表、照片等)、自学能力等方面,乃至审题能力和答题方法。而这些能力总离不开一定的知识,知识是能力的基础,没有知识,就谈不上培养能力。但是光有知识并不等于就有了能力,能力是逐步培养的。培养了学生能力也就开发了智力,只有发展了智力,才能更好地掌握和运用知识,这说明能力的培养和智力的开发是息息相关的。因此它们之间既有区别,也有联系。我认为在教学中不能简单地满足于一般知识的传授,必须在抓基础知识的同时,十分重视培养学生的能力,
