In this study, we selected a group of patients with unilateral stroke to detect changes in heart rate during deep breathing, changes in blood pressure and heart rate during tilting and equal-length grip testing, and whether left- or right-sided brain damage may have different effects on these reflexes. The authors selected 23 previously healthy unilateral stroke patients (age 59 ± 12 years) as compared to a group of healthy individuals (n = 21, age 61 ± 12 years) and those with a previous history of TIA but previously healthy (n = 11, Age 59 ± 16 years) for comparison. Thirteen patients (62 ± 10 years) were right brain lesions, 10 (55 ± 15 years) left brain lesions, 14 hemisphere lesions and 8 brain stem lesions. The results showed that the difference of heart rate RR interval during deep breathing was significantly reduced from the left side in the damage of the right side of the brain, and also from the left side and the right side of the hemisphere. However, there was no difference between the right hemisphere and the right side of the brain. In 3 minutes
