The steel plate produced by the 3600 heavy plate mill of the Soviet Union’s Speed Steel Company is normalized at the through-roller hearth heat treatment furnace. In order to improve the normalizing efficiency, the company tested a new process that successfully used the rolling residual heat for rapid cooling to achieve a normalized steel performance. The low-alloy steel plate produced by this new technology can improve the strength, toughness and low-temperature resistance by 10 ~ 205 compared with the normalized state, and can save 10% of the steel by using the department.
