This summer, I had the privilege of visiting a group of university students in Denmark. In a matter of ten days, I experienced and inspected Danish social service facilities. In addition to participating in some lectures, we visited a residential care home for the elderly, a workshop for deaf-mutes and dormitories, a residential care home for people with severe mental retardation and a training center for children with disabilities. The first three are located in Nyborg, a small town, meaning “Newcastle,” while the Autistic Child Training Center is in Copenhagen, while Old Fortress is in the Old Town of Copenhagen.
