In 2001, one in every 30 garments in the world was produced in Wenzhou, and the annual output value of the Wenzhou footwear industry exceeded 25 billion yuan. It is no exaggeration to say that where there is profit, there are Wenzhou businessmen. Wenzhou merchants who dared to look for money anywhere were hailed as the merchant tribe chasing “money and grass”. Many of China’s earliest rich people belong to this tribe. However, Wenzhou, which is rich in bosses, seems hard to produce aristocrats. Some people even criticized the fact that the wealth of oil did not stop Wenzhou bosses from becoming more moralistic and animalistic. There are three things in the wealthy class in Wenzhou that have attracted people’s attention: one is that the price is divorced, and the other is a considerable number of semi-literate bosses.
