近几年来我国影坛发生了较大的突进,一批中、青导演的作品不但引起了国内广大影迷与艺术家的注意,也博得了国际影坛的赞赏。尤其是张艺谋导、演、摄的一组影片,在中、青导演中更为引人注目。这一现实有力地说明了中国电影确实在变,当然我们不能只看到它表面形式的消长,更主要的是应该仔细研究在表面形式的消长背后,一种难以阻抗的美学观在迅速地复甦与渗入,而且这种促使影坛发生变革的因素仍在不断增长。张艺谋参与导、演、摄的《一个和八个》、《黄土地》、《老井》、《红高粱》这组影片,就内容来看似乎是平淡无奇的。但它是这种高度表现性、写意性、象征性艺术中一个不可缺少的因素。《一个和八个》通过对人性尽管扭曲,但良知尚未泯灭的八个罪犯的灵魂透视,对炎黄子孙的民族性进行了深入的开掘。《黄土地》则对民族的古老生活方式和民族文化心理以及植根于这样一种自然地理环境、生产方式、生活方式中的民族精神状态作了历史深度和心理深度的思考。
