High School Algebra Compilation (top) P62 Example 5: Find the approximate solution of the equation x+1gx=3. The solution plots the functions y=1gx and y=3-x in the same coordinate system. Find the x coordinate of the intersection point x ≈ 2.6, this x value approximately satisfies 1gx=3-x, so it is the approximate solution of the original equation (Figure 1). This is the first example of Gao Shen’s textbook, which is based on the combination of numbers and shapes.
