麻黄(Ephedra distachya)别名川麻黄、海麻黄、麻黄草、草麻黄、节骨草,麻黄科多年生草本植物,有草麻黄、木贼麻黄、矮麻黄、中间麻黄等种类,主要分布在吉林、内蒙、山西、辽宁。 麻黄成片丛生在沙丘上,适应春季干旱、夏季温差大、冬季寒冷的气候。株高20～40厘米。本质茎匍匐土中,绿色枝直立,节间长2.5～5厘米,直径1～1.5毫米,折断面有棕红色髓心。叶对生节上,退化成膜质鞘状,包于茎节,分裂几达基部;裂片锐三角形,先端渐尖或短尖。花单性,雌雄异株;每花序有苞片3～5对,苞片互生,卵圆形。拟浆果(果序),球形,具种子2,卵形。花期5～6月,果期7～8月。一般根深2米,根幅1.5米左右。阴阳坡均可生长。
