Branca Asic’s “Farewell: A Reading of Emerson” started with the daily micro-politics and gradually shifted to such grand political topics as ethics, law and national identity to create an all-round way of modernizing “Civilians Shengzhe ” image. Emerson believes that the definition of personal identity depends on the relationship between man and the outside world, the world does not change, personal identity also will change; the resultant force resulting from this change is unqualified. Focusing on the interpretation of “self ” or “self ” in Emerson’s work, Asik concludes that the life of art lies in giving up self (or digestion). Only by breaking stereotypes and customs can we truly liberate ourselves.
