2005年,浙江省文物考古研究所在浙江余杭卞家山考古发掘时,在遗址的良渚文化晚期大型灰沟中,发现了一个人的头盖骨。因灰沟土层类似淤泥,有利于文物的保存,在灰沟中出土的文物保存相对较好。头盖骨就是在这条大型灰沟中出土的,且保存良好。该头盖骨带有明显的加工痕迹,断口是从眉弓以上开始沿顶骨环切下来的,边缘整齐,头盖骨前后各有一对穿孔,从其制作情况来看,这可能是一件用人的头骨制作的容器。这是良渚文化遗址发掘以来,首次发现带有加工痕迹并使用的头盖骨,也是太湖流域地区发现的最早的、唯一的头盖骨标本。卞家山遗址出土的头盖骨对于研究史前社会以及良渚文化时期的社会面貌和风俗无疑具有重要学术价值,那么这个头盖骨在当时究竟做何用呢?我们可以从两方面来判断它的
