INTRODUCTION He who has lost his limbs due to an inborn disability or amputation apparently lost not only mechanical operating power but also very useful sensations. It has been documented that a great deal of work has been done to replace the lost mechanical function, and despite the long-term efforts to change limbs, little attention has been paid to the restoration of sensory function. In the case of lower extremity replacement, it can be assumed that the reaction force on the stump can satisfactorily replace the normal sensory mechanism. But the situation of upper limbs is different. Many countries have adopted the method of installing Splithooks, which are operated shoulder-to-shoulder through the Bowden cable. Shrugs “feel” the extent to which the jaws are open and the “feel” of the shrug is a measure of the grip force when the jaws are able to open their own jaws. This paw is functional, yet less attractive. More desirable for most amputees is a functional, artificial hand.
