12180ZL 型柴油机(以下简称180柴油机)是机车用的高速强化柴油机,缸套穴蚀是目前影响该机型使用寿命的主要问题之一。资阳内燃机车工厂生产的东方红〈5〉型调小内燃机车一般在运用3000余小时后与四方机车车辆工厂生产的东方红〈3〉型内燃机车一般在运行12~20万公里后,柴油机缸套便严重穴蚀。穴蚀位置有明显的规律性,面对柴油机飞轮端,柴油机逆时针方向旋转,穴蚀仅发生在左排的内侧和右排的外侧,而且主要集中在上部距缸套支承端面约60毫米的地方,穴蚀分布面积约在φ40毫米范围内,穴蚀孔洞大而深,直径为φ2~φ5毫米。从柴油机运动学和动力学分析,穴蚀部位正是连杆摆动平面内的主推力侧,而且是在膨胀冲程开始时侧推力作用的位置
