In the 1920s, some things that benefited the nation and benefiting the people in China were hard to come by. There is a vivid example of this. Shunde Prefecture decided to beautify the old wall left by its predecessors, and rows of willow trees and poplar saplings planted on both sides of the moat. As our family often passes by during my walk there, my parents are aware of this project on the life of the general public. But hope soon dashed, most of the trees in summer covered with leaves, but the trees were broken in mid-winter, some were uprooted, leaving only a handful of the rest. Poor people who do these things
