Since the Edo period, Japanese translation of Chinese popular novels and Chinese novels, the first volume often attached to the preface and postscript to Chinese writing. The analysis of these prefaces and postscripts in the sequence of time shows that the prefaces and postscripts, ideological concepts and descriptions of Japanese novels in the early Edo period are still being explored and imitated. In the middle and later period of the Edo period, Japanese people read Chinese popular novels with the purpose of learning. They can learn Chinese literati ideas quickly and integrate them thoroughly. They also have a more tolerant attitude to the novel, and have long formed thinly-read texts, paid attention to versions, etc. habit. At this moment, when Japanese people prefaces and postscripts of Chinese novels, they still regard Chinese novels as their absolute authority, but they also gradually give birth to an independent sense of creation. However, after the Meiji Restoration, the prefaces and postscripts of Chinese writings by Japanese people emphasized that the creation of fiction should be related to real life, and profoundly influenced the transformation of novels in modern China.
