OBJECTIVE: To analyze the current status quo of oral health of officers and soldiers of a certain naval unit by means of questionnaire survey and to compare the possible differences between the personnel of sea front and shore. Methods: A questionnaire of oral health was designed. According to the stratified sampling of sea floor and shore service, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the oral health of officers and soldiers in a naval unit. Data were entered into the questionnaire and SPSS software was used for statistical analysis. The rates were compared using χ 2 test, Test level α = 0.05. Results: Of the 397 valid questionnaires, the survey results are as follows: 97.3% of naval officers and men think that oral health is important, but oral health care needs to be improved (most officers and men brush their teeth incorrectly, times or times are incorrect, 78.6% never use floss, 51.7% never used mouthwash, 64.7% never received dental cleaning, 81.4% did not have regular oral examination, 42.8% did not receive oral health education within one year, etc.); However, the habit of changing toothbrushes on a regular basis was better than that of shore-based staff. The number of oral health education was higher than that of shore-based staff within one year. However, the prevalence of oral ulcers was significantly higher than that of shore-based staff (both P <0.05). Conclusion: The status quo of naval officers and men’s oral health care needs to be improved. It is suggested that we should further improve the oral health care of officers and men from aspects of oral health education and guidance, regular oral examinations and patrols, prevention and control of multiple oral and oral diseases in officers and soldiers, and enhancement of oral health care capabilities Health care level.
