人民文学出版社《西游记》(底本是世德堂本)五十四回叙述唐僧一行初到女儿国,受到妇女们的围观。“不分老少,尽是妇女。正在两街上做买做卖,忽见他四众来时,一起都鼓掌呵呵,整容欢笑道:‘人种来了！人种来了！’慌得那三藏勒马难行。须臾间就塞满街道,惟闻笑语。八戒口里乱嚷道:‘我是个销猪！我是个销猪！’”乾隆木板《西游正旨》本亦作“销猪”。“销猪”一词未见注释,各种词典也未收这个词条,究为何解,我们认为“销猪”就是未经阉割的公猪或种猪。
