江苏省泰兴中学所在地的苏中地区,是抗日战争时期陈毅同志战斗过的地力,具有光荣的革命传统。早在80年代初,学校领导就发现了一个不容忽视的问题:由于历史这门功课在初中被当作副课,高中又过早地文理分科,学生知识面狭隘:鸦片战争是什么回事?“五四”运动的性质是什么?旧中国是什么状况?中国共产党是怎样走过来的?这类常识性的问题,不少学生回答不出。泰中党支部十分敏感地认识到问题的严重性,靠这些“史盲”去建设具有中国特色的社会主义,防止“和平演变”,是难以想象的。为补上这一课,十年来,
Jiangsu-Taixing Middle School is located in the Soviet-China region, which was the land that Comrade Chen Yi fought during the Anti-Japanese War, with a glorious revolutionary tradition.
